02 · why not Power BI

Power BI shows what you model. Omnix runs the operating picture.

Power BI is an excellent reporting tool. But a dashboard is only as current as the model someone built and as connected as they wired it to be, so engineering BI becomes a standing project you staff and maintain.

  • Someone has to build and maintain it

    Any view leadership trusts is a data-modelling project. When teams, tools or priorities change, it has to be rebuilt, and that work never ends.

  • As live as someone built it to be

    Power BI can query live with DirectQuery, but only for the sources and joins someone built and keeps maintaining. Omnix keeps the cross-tool operational view live by default, with no per-source modelling to keep it current.

  • Context you have to model

    A Power BI chart can show context, but only the relationships someone modelled and maintains. Omnix ships cost already joined to the team, service and change that drove it, and the person who owns the fix.

  • The model is already built

    Omnix comes with the engineering operating model already modelled: delivery, reliability, cost and ownership joined for you, not assembled by an analyst.

03 · why not Datadog

Datadog watches the systems. Omnix watches the business of engineering.

Datadog is world-class at understanding the systems it monitors. But that is one input to a leadership decision, not the whole question of cost, delivery, risk and ownership across the organisation.

  • Centred on what you route into Datadog

    Datadog now reaches into delivery (CI Visibility, DORA), cloud cost and security, but each view is built from the data you route into it. Omnix rolls those signals up across the tools you already run, without instrumenting anything new.

  • The next ring out

    Omnix's job starts where the telemetry ends: joining delivery, cost and risk with the work tracker, the finance view and team capacity (sources Datadog does not monitor) into one leadership picture.

    Datadog's centre of gravity is keeping production healthy. Omnix helps leadership decide where to invest, what to fix first, and which risks to escalate.

Jira tracks the work. Omnix shows what the work means.

Jira is where work gets managed, and a Jira roadmap can forecast the work Jira can see. But a board is not a view of cost or risk, and leadership needs the implication of the work (across cost, reliability and ownership), not the tickets themselves.

    Jira tracks the work and can forecast within its own plans. Omnix highlights the work most likely to slip in the context of cost, incidents and team load across every tool, and routes the why to an owner.

    Jira is built to manage the work, not to join the cloud bill, incidents and reliability into one leadership view. You can assemble that with apps, integrations and add-ons, or get it already joined in Omnix.

  • Leadership reporting is assembly work

    Jira has dashboards and reports, but a cross-tool leadership view still means apps, custom dashboards and spreadsheet stitching. Omnix gives leadership that view directly, kept live.

  • Connects, doesn't disrupt

    Omnix connects to Jira read-only and treats delivery data as one signal among many. It does not change how your teams plan and track work.
